Tonight sees the latest of the #themeet140 nights taking place at Musa and they are great fun – a chance to make some new pals, enjoy some fine food and quality BrewDog drinks.
But some people have been asking us what they are like, so for them, here’s a FAQ:
It’s a gathering, plain and simple. There’s no over-riding theme to the events, no speakers, just a bunch of people turning up and blethering. Oh and sometimes free hugs too.
Then everyone goes and posts on Twitter that they had a great time and adds the #themeet140 hastag so everyone else can see what a great time was had too.
(For the record books, Musa’s were started by the amazing Ali McGill and talented Johanna Basford, then carried on by Mark Jennings and Holly June Smith and now run by AJ Johnstone and Mich J Barclay.)
Why not? You need an excuse to come out and have fun? If you do, here it is. If not, why haven’t you been already?
Goodness, you are new to this aren’t you? No, you don’t need to be on Twitter but it makes life a lot easier if you are because everyone gets a namebadge on the night, making it easier to ID people – and also to keep in touch afterwards.
What’s the chat about?
Everything! Anything! Overheard so far at previous Aberdeen #themeet140 events:
So far we haven’t had anyone combine all of those – for example, ‘where the best place is to rent a flat to watch an Alien film in a thong while waiting for the F1 to come on the TV’ but we’re sure it’s only a matter of time.
As for MySpace and Friends Reunited – you’re on your own there (possibly quite literally).
Upstairs is normally where #themeet140 starts.
Well come along! Even if you aren’t on Twitter (though it only takes a few minutes to do so), it’s a friendly bunch.
Oh yes. Not only will there be the normal menu but there’s also a special #themeet140 menu – and you can see that below…
What else do you need? It’s a great night out with great company, food and beers! But if you need another reason it’s Leanne Fraser’s birthday so come along and wish her a Happy Birthday (and buy her a drink or donate to her fundraising page).
So hopefully we’ll see you there from 6.30pm onwards…
